Pneumatic press

The task was to produce a press that was able to exert 1.8 Tons of pressure.

It also had to include rollers that lifted after the pressing took place to allow for easy unloading of the heavy pressed item.

I was given dimensional requirements and really the rest was up to me.

I calculated the pneumatic cylinder requirements to produce the required force. This allowed the purchase of a suitable cylinder to which everything else was designed around it.

I completed the entire fabrication along with the eject mechanism for the raising rollers. A smooth stainless steel surface prevents any damage to the product with slots cut in to accept the rollers.

The press platform can swivel which allows for any slight different height build up of the product.

The press needed to be safe for operation and so a two handed operating system was devised.

I was given assistance with the pneumatic logic for the safe operation.

Once this was proven I completed the full installation of the pneumatics.

Once the product is loaded onto the pressing table, the operator must use both hands to actually initiate the sequence.

Once the press was completed and tested, I sprayed the press blue to match the feed in and feed out rollers.
