A Quality engineer with 40 years experience

An Engineer

I am a multi skilled engineer with a willing attitude to hard work.

I offer my services to industry and private clients who may wish to utilize the vast skill set that I am able to offer.

I have completed recognized apprenticeships, undertaken many hours of evening and "in house" training and I can boast many years’ experience.

Primarily I am mechanically trained and I am able to demonstrate excellence in the following skills:

High tolerance machining, turning, Milling, grinding etc.
Stainless Steel Fabrication.
Pipe fitting.
Steam production / boiler maintenance.
Mechanical component overhaul, pumps, gearbox, bearing fitting etc.
Welding - MMA, MIG, and TIG in ferrous and non ferrous materials.
Pneumatic and Hydraulics.
Good understanding of 3 phase electrics and control

I have a small workshop where I am able to perform general machining or plant repair tasks.

I also attend client sites where complete engineering support is offered.

I have successfully been offering my services to clients since 2008.

I offer full component rebuild, pumps. Gearbox’s etc.

Precision machining and fabrication work can be undertaken.

Welding, especially TIG to very high standards can also be performed.

I have successfully worked in many companies and in all cases repeat work has always been offered.

My approach to work is always conducted in a safe and professional manner, paying close attention to Safe Systems of Working practices.

I am able to carry out risk assessments prior to starting work and am familiar with Permit to Work systems to ensure safe working practices.

I am a sole trader but with advance notice I am able to provide good quality engineers to assist me.

I am confident that I am able to provide you with a first class solution to manufacturing maintenance and repair.

My Hobbies

Motorcycles

My prime interest is that of motorcycles and in truth it's probably an extension of my work. Both work and motorcycles beginning when I was 16 year old lad.

My first bike as with most was a moped. In my case it was a BSA Brigand. Even though it was a badged Italian machine, the letters BSA pleased my dad.

Many bikes came after that and then the awareness of sense settled in - cars!

Then came a wife followed by children and in between a few bikes here and there.

Finally I managed to obtain my dream bike that I had always admired as a young lad, a Triumph Trident T160.

I was mocked by friends to leave it alone unless I had a sack of spanners but hey, that's my job!

I have totally rebuilt this machine from the very last nut and bolt, and I invite you to take a look at the work that I undertook via the photographs.

She now runs without fault and always turns heads.

Football

I thoroughly adore football. I do very much enjoy professional football but in truth I get more satisfaction from the grass roots scene.

Being an ex player, a mediocre one at that, I have spent a considerable amount of my time putting something back into the sport. I have supported my son from a very young age. I ran his team from when he was 5 to his final years in youth football at 16 .

In between supporting my son, I was also running the enormously successful village team which I occupied 17 years of my life. At our level, there wasn't much that we didn't win. We even managed to lift a couple of County trophies which was an absolute pleasure.

My son continues to play and I still enjoy watching him play most weekends. Someone else runs the team that he plays for and it's far easier to avoid the football politics and take a quiet back seat on the touch line.

Keeping Fit

I am a member of a local club who enjoy keeping fit. We meet 3/4 times a week and perform various exercises in order to look after ourselves. We are trained by competent PT's who put us through our paces.

Music

I have a fond admiration of music and enjoy the reproduction of my tastes via decent equipment in the comfort of my home, often accompanied by a fine glass of Abbot ale!
